Default 5.3 rebuild

Hi, i am looking for some assistance. my 5.3 engine has some good mileage on it and the piston slap is really starting to bug me, so i am looking to do a complete rebuild, but having a prob with finding parts. What places could anyone suggest to find rebuild kits for stock style parts. i am used to getting performance parts which is a hell of a lot easier finding parts.. thanks kevin

If you want stock replacement parts, hit up a good parts store. They should be able to help you out.

i am mostly looking for bigger parts such as pistons and rings. all the local parts suppliers dont really carry these items. honesty i would be afraid to use them too.

Try Summit Racing online. They should have a whole list of stuff for you from GM. Coincidentally, they also have better than stock parts that you might want to check out while you're there...

Oh wait, Can I say that?

Bore to the 5.7 size and use someones takeout LS1 pistons. You can find these cheap on Tech and ebay.

Thats a great idea. Cheaper and more power. Only thing is, it will make it exactly like a 5.7, just iron block. Add that with stock 5.3 heads and your running 10.5+ compression.
