Default 5.3 questions

Hello iam new to this board,I have a 2007 Silverado 5.3 Z71 The older style ,Last week I ran a 11.83 down the 1/8 mile @61mph,with just a Brute Force CAI.What Iam concerned about is the damn truck is so damn sluggish off the line.Iam wondering if a After market MAF will help me off the line alittle?Or somthing else like a TB spacer? Thanks.Btw I just got rid of the stock muffler and replaced it with a 40 series flowmaster.

Welcome to PT.NET! First, forget that you ever heard of TB spacers. They are a waste of money. The best bang for the buck would be a custom tune of your PCM. You can contact "Wheatley" with a PM - he's one of the best - or contact Nelson Performance. Nelson is one of the sponsors on the right side of the screen >>>>>>>>.

Good luck!

Don't waste your money on that crap, go with the custom tune.

well to start with that sluggish off the line is torque managment combined with a possibly poorly selected gearing. what is your gear ratio??? 3.23 3.42 3.73 4.10

as for the TB spacer it isn't good for anything more than hucking at squirrels, or drilling for a nitrous app but they already make spray rings. the aftermarket MAF wont help a damn thing either. avoid them unless you need a bigger one when you go FI or big Cubes then go to a Lingenfelter 100mm "sewer pipe"

as for mods the following is the generally accepted order of application

Tune
Intake
Long Tubes & ORY
Exhaust (Ditch the flow for something that actually flows)
Gears & Posi/Locker
Stall
Cam
Some sort of FI

but like i said START WITH A TUNE and not a handheld avoid the handheld tuners like a bad case of the crabs. go with a mail order or live tune

Hope this helps

tunning will not void your warranty unless the tuner fries your PCM which all sponsorers of this site will give you a new pcm.

3.73 is a good gear. i think getting rid of TM and bumping your shiftpoints will make you happier
