5.3 piston to valve clearence

Default 5.3 piston to valve clearence

New build, 5.3 bored to 3.898 with flat top pistons and using my 5.3 heads there p&p with 2" valves im looking to up compression with this build my main concern is piston to valve clearence im going to be running a vinchi trucker high lift 216/224 lift .585 lift anyone done a similar build ? any comments welcome

I'd say go with 6.0 heads, the have slight bigger combustion chambers, and are pretty much the same thing, but built for the bigger bore size. I wouldn't know what to set the clearance to though. Haven't gotten far at all on my 5.3 yet.

with a random guess your PTV will be fine. I'll be doing the same to my heads and I installed 4.8 flat top pistons. I'll probably mill my heads .020-.030" also. I'm running the 220r cam.

6.0 heads would take away that compression you put the flat top in for, though they do flow well. Not as well as the ported 5.3 heas though.
