5.3 - Ls1 swap
i know the engines are basically the same (or so im told) so what exactly are the differences in the block? besides it being aluminum. will my heads bolt up to it? and would a radix kit bolt up to a ls1 (with ls1 heads, or 5.3 heads)? thanks for the help. im just trying to decide if i should go for the 6.0 or aluminum ls1.

how much for just a long block? no manifolds, intake, wiring, or injectors
Blue5.7 - thanks for the info, would you happen to know how much compression the Ls1's have? and would my heads give it more?

Yes, GMCCasLS1 is exactly right. Only other differences are in the intake and water pump. Truck intakes are much taller, about 4" over an LS1/6. The water pump mounts and casting are identical except the truck model has the upper radiator hose mounting on the top of the pump housing where the LS1 has the mount on the front of the housing for the clearance issues. FYI, there was a good test on intakes in the latest Chevy Hi Performance mag that shows the truck 6.0L intake is as good as anything out there, including aftermarket. You may not need it if you go to the Radix but just in case...
Last, the 6.0L #317 heads ( 72cc ) are your best bet with the Radix/forced induction. They have the biggest chambers, intake volume, and D-shaped exhaust ports. Next best with Radix are LS1 #241 heads. Again, slightly less compression than stock truck heads due to larger combustion chambers ( 66cc ). Anything else, stay with the 5.3L turck heads ( 62cc ). More compression if you don't spray or add FI.
