Default 5.3 help

hey guys i got a co-worker who has a 2007 (i think) silverafo 1500 ecsb 5.3l all stock with 129k miles and he i hearing a tapping sound under the hood. checked it out and it sounds like its coming from under the passenger side valve cover. no exhaust leak and oil pressure is good. he said it goes away when it gets up too temp. i wanna say it might be a lifter but thats my best guess. any ways any suggestions? ill post pics of his truck tomorrow since its clean as hell. 5-7 drop 20's

Most likely is piston slap, since it goes away after warming up a bit. If that's what it is, it might just live forever like that.

Lifters & other more serious noises don't go away with temp.

What is your pressure running at? 40 or higher? Sometimes these motors can lose lifter prime and can re-prime after warm up.
