Default 5.3 engine build

Hey guess I'm new to this forum and I am a novice mechanic. I am wanting to build turbo striker motor and want to be hands on and can't seem to find any shops to let me do so...should I try to do it myself with help of forums and research or just let the shop go ahead and build it.

You can do it yourself for a fraction of the price of what a shop will charge you. Just make sure you do lots of research before you buy or build, don't be afraid to ask questions and use the search box. Also talk to people in your area that have similar interests, I'm willing to bet you'll meet someone who can help you with the build who has some of the needed tools and knowhow.

i say do it yourself. it be a learning built for you....i wouldnt just go head on to a turbo build with researching ALOTTT! your best bet would be to buy a short block already assembled for and work off that...you can get a short block from tsp for 3500 fora 370
