we are going to be swapping from a 5.3 to a 6.0 in my buddies dads' avalanche.....

the truck with be daily driven, and we just want to make some nice seat of the pants gains.

anyone have any recommendations on what cam to choose?

we will be upgrading the 4l60 trans as well, as it has 100k on it as well.

 

I'm going to be using the Vinci Trucker when I do my LQ9, specs are 216/224 .551/.551 115. I'll also have a CircleD triple disc that should stall about 2800-3000 behind it, to help get me into the cam's powerband easier. This cam is mild by most folks' tastes around here, but I think it would work well in a heavy Avy. I wouldn't go over 220 on the duration considering the weight that he will be moving.

 

Totally good advice. Cam mentioned above might have a little more lope to it than mine, if that's what you're after. I run a LS6 engine with a comp 212/218 .558/563 115 degreed to 111 ICL with the stock lock-up TC. Not as smooth as stock cam, but not very lopey. Great for torque.

Prepare to get a tune, what ever you choose. You can really tweak the trans to help it hold up. Maybe raise your idle rpm a little.

 

thanks for the input. im leaning towards a vinchi cam....or a thunderracing old man truck cam.

tuning wont be an issue, as we have hp tuners, and already have a stock 6.0 tune, as well as credits for the truck already....
