I would say a 2600 stall converter would work great for a truck you drive daily.

First gear in a 4L80E is ~2.40 I cant remember exactly but we do offer a 2.75 first gear upgrade which is the same as the 4L60Es have. Its a $550 option.

Yes it does.

In higher HP applications though the 2.45 gear in the 80E is a better option IMO.

And you know how much TQ he has!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do the 4l80 and if you dont have enough TQ you can always make more. The reason I say do the 4l80 is if you do hurt the 4l80 then you can rebuild it and we all know how much power a built 80 can handle!

Up to you mate. The junk yard unit is a crap shoot unless you're getting a GM take out unit. <.. Best option

The built units will have you eating Top Ramen for the next year..

I got mine from a junk yard out of a wrecked truck with 6000 miles on it. $1300 I added a 3000 hughes stall to it and a shift kit. I drive the f*ck out of my truck. I think I have about 15000 miles on the 80e and the tranny fluid still looks and smells brand new. Just a shift kit and you'll be fine to 500hp if not 600hp. Most wrecking yards will stand behind low mile parts just don't let them know how much hp your running

Just my $.02

Try to get one out of a truck and if you cant find one then go with a Speed Inc,etc... but you should be able to find one. No matter what do the shift kit. They are cheap and your gonna be in there anyway. I would say a stock 80 with shift kit will get you buy without problems for a while if not forever. And if you do kill the 80 which will be in time if any then you can rebuild it to be indestructable!

What if Im already eating Ramen noodles with 4 of my 7 meals each day
That and those Smart choice microwave dinners @$1.50 a piece. With that and my protein powder (I buy two 5lb containers at a time) Im saving about as much as I can without resembling Ghandi.
F8L are you going with a built or stock 80'? Im thinking of giving Speed Inc a call to see if they'll give me a discount if I buy all of it and some other things from them.
