[quote]Also new is the Hydra-Matic 4L60-E HD electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. The 4L60-HD is the heavy-duty brother of the 4L60-E, and has been designed to handle the high power and torque of the Vortec 6000. Its deep 3.06 first gear ratio provides quick launches and smooth acceleration. Compared to the 4L60-E, it has:
Five pinions in the input and reaction gearsets for 20 percent more torque capacity
New aluminum construction bushings in the stator shaft, providing higher torque capacity in a lighter-weight design
An extra clutch plate in the third and fourth gear clutch (7 vs. 6) for added capacity
A new induction heat treating process for the turbine shaft to improve durability
Improved strength at the lubrication holes for greater durability
Larger diameter clutch rollers in the (low/reverse) roller clutch assembly
Induction-hardened splines on the stator shaft for more durability and strength.

Yeah, it's a slightly beefed up 4L60E. The new Escalade & Denali's already have it. I'd rather have the 4L80E in the H2, but I guess GM wants it to be "Dad's soccermobile".
There is also a 4L85E that is in the 8.1 Suburbans & Avalanches. I'm guessing it has similar upgrades.

Looking over Novembers issue of 4Wheel and off road, there is a preview of the new Hummer H2. They claim it is going to come with a 6.0L and 4L65E trannsmission. I haven't heard of this. Could it be a beefed up 4L60E? It states 3.06:1,1.62:1,1:1,.69:1 gears so it has the same ration as the 4L60E. Just curious.

Thanks Neil, thats what I was expecting.
I think I saw your old truck in Dallas last night. Dark green, body lift, 33" tires, black ranch hand type bumper - probably wasn't yours, but it was a close match anyway.
How does your new 6.0 and 4L80 feel compared to your old setup?

Nowhere in your quote does it talk about the 4L65E. Are you assuming that the 4L60E-HD is a 4L65E?

I would guess so. I had heard from Yank that GM was coming out with a lot of HD parts for the 4L60E's.
Hence, the 4L65E moniker. (just a guess though)
