Jim, I am curious as to what the diagnosis was for the wheel hop on your old truck and how you fixed it. In a 4wd launch do you get alot of vibration? Also, you said you think you could do this swap for 1/2 the price of a 60, I am assuming that would not include a transfer case. Do you know what model # would be for the autotrac case that would work with the push button better than the manual one? Thanks.

good questions and stuff i should add. your right, i forgot about the price of the tcase, i doubt anyone could get a tranny and tcase for $1000.

in my last truck i got some vibration over 100mph when in 4wd but so far none in this truck. i think i am almost as quick. in my last truck i shifted out of 4hi at about 60mph to get rid of the vibration.

it wasn't so much wheel hop as a bucking problem, i droped the truck about 1" and put on shorter wider tires, not sure wich one of those things fixed it but one of them did. i think i was geting too much weight transfer and droping it kept more weight on the front.

Looks good! That's going to be a killer resource in the future as this swap becomes more popular!

GREAT INFO! This is exactly what I need right now. Can't wait to get my 80 and start workin' on the truck.

One thing...you mention the crank spacer in the parts list, but I didn't see where you installed it. Does it go between the f/p and the motor, or the f/p and the converter?

Impressive writeup. I'd still like to know if that LD2500 X-member and AutoTrac case would bolt up easily...I'd assume so. Also the front drive shaft from that LD2500 too.

Did you ever investigate if the 9.25" IFS setup will bolt in easily?
