Default 408 up & running...vid/audio

Well it's up and running. So far so good. Feels stronger than the 6.0+100 shot. Still working on the tune. It's a bitch to stop it from surging in stop and go driving but it does ok otherwise. Here is a little vid of it idling with a few revs. 408rumble
PS: slow server....right click and save is faster

I opened the throttle plate 4% with the set screw and reset the TPS to 0. It idles at 850 rpm's. I researched a lot of NoGo's tips on tuning for adjustments in the idle tables and applied them. It will crank and idle good cold and hot and rev and return to idle good. It just wants to hunt once or twice in stop or go driving. I may be too critical of it considering the size of the cam.

Did the motor myself. The transmission is stock except for Transgo kit and Yank convertor. I have a level 5 FLP 65E in the works for it.

I have a 2000 silv ext. cab, I am going thru the same motions that you just went through, going with 6.0L bored to 408 C.I. did u change out the crankshaft with a forged steel or did u go with stock, I am going with the forged myself, I am also thinking about going with the patriot heads as well. Did you have to do any major wiring changes at all or was it pretty much the same. I am glad everything worked out for you, can u give me any heads up on anything I should watch out for during my transition, any info. would be highly appreciated.....

Wow, you went with the FLP??!! Thats the same one I was thinking of going with. If you are confident that it will handle your setup, it should have no problem with mine. What are you guesstimating as far as rwhp/ tq??

I used a Callies crank and rods with Diamond pistons. The installation was a simple swap out. I'm working on a list of tips for everybody that wants to build their own. Will have it in a day or two.
