Default 408 cam

i am trying to see what cam the guys that have a 408 are running. i am bulding mine to be n/a and i want get the biggest i can and it to be streetable with a decent idle because there are times i am in alot of stop and go traffic and i also take long road trips when needed. i have been looking at the comp cams XER273HR but i am not real good about cams picking cams out.

Mine is drivable but if I had to drive it everyday in stop and go traffic I would probably go with something smaller. With the torque of the 408 watch out for cams with too much bottom end.

The 4l65e with the 5 pinion plantes doesnt like to be spun real high. What RPM do you plan to shift at?Forum member C5C6 ran 12s NA in his xcab AWD 408 with a pretty tame cam.Im going to guess something like 226/570 .A 300 shot put him in the 10s

a 226 is pretty dang mild considering a lot of people run stuff similar in size to that in a 5.3 but depends on how sreetable you want it you will lose potential going with something that small IMO i would go like the 232/232 not as streetable but still good enough

Lingenfelter GT1 all the way. If i can drive mine every day with that cam in a 5.3, you can drive it in a 408 easily.
