Default 408 Build List

What do you guys think about this 408 build list. It will be going in a rcsb w/ 4.10's, posi, 3000 converter, and a 175-200 shot. Is there anything you guys would change? I know this list doen't have every little thing on it but it has the major stuff:

Eagle 4.0" Crank, Scat 6.125" rods, Mahle forged -12cc dished pistons, LQ9 heads, Cometic .045" head gaskets, ARP head bolts, LS2 timing set, Patriot spring kit, hardened pushrods, TSP torquer cam (232/234 .595/.598 113LSA), 44lb Racetronix Multec II's, and a TSP 255lph intank pump.

change the ARP head bolts into ARP L19 head studs IMO. Also, do ARP throughout.

May end up wanting more from heads down the road, but thats an easy fix.

What are your plans for intake manifold and TB?

ARP stud kit is overkill IMO especially for only a 200 shot. I used the head bolt kit and am going to be spraying a 250 shot on my motor. Like I said before I would go with a bigger cam and bigger stall. Im going with a 237/242 112lsa on mine but I like lope and alot of power up top. IMO you need to shift his powerband way up top since he is 2wd and he likes to street race. A cam like that is going to come on decntly low in the powerband and with nitrous is just going to make a beautiful smoke show IMO. A TR T-Rex cam would make it run nice and keep some traction through first. Also I would put an ARP main stud kit in there not necessary but I did it just to be safe. Heads could be different down the road I really like the DARTs. FYI LQ9 heads and LQ4 heads are the same thing

Truck intake an TB for now.....looking into either a FAST 78 or a BBK setup a little later on. Really don't know everything involved to run the shorther intakes either. Heads, intake, and TB may come a little later on. I really want to run a bigger cam but I am scared of loosing too much on bottom and not having the right heads, and intake to make it perform great in the upper rpms.

The year of your block can change the part number for ARP head studs. Just a FYI in case you decide to go with them. The '04 block changed. Had to deal with that issue myself. The head studs are no more overkill than the ARP head bolts IMO, it's just one of those nice things to have.

If you decide on heads, don't go small or too cheap. It's a shame IMO, to build rock solid and fast from the bottom up then get something not much over what you had stock. Get something with flow numbers solidly in the 305-315cfm range. That way you will not wonder how your 408 could perform and go back and try to upgrade later. It's cheaper in the long run to do it right the first time. Just my opinion, only you know what your budget is.

Rhino you need to realize you are running a 2wd and traction on a weak 408 is going to be a problem. you can stand to loose a bit down low IMO. Me having 4wd I can put most of teh power to the ground but I still went a step bigger then what most people would go with. I would go with something in the high 230 low 240 range and open that beast up. With heads down the road you will jsut see a bigger gain with a heads swap. A head swap aint **** to do a cam is a PITA since you have to drain ALL the fluid out of the radiator and pull all the **** off the front. I have worked on my truck so much these last ocuple of weeks a motor swap seems simple though
