Default 408 build

I am going to be putting a 408 together and was wanting to get some opinions on the parts i plan to use if they work good together or not and maybe what the motor would produce. i plan to go with eagle crank and rods, dimond pistons and rings, fedral mogal main barrings, clevite rod barrings, arp main studs rod bolts head studs, cosmetic head gaskets, some 205 dart heads, high 220s low 230s for the cam deration, 11:1 compresion, and truck intake. so do you guys think something like this will work good together and have good lowend grunt. also would it be able to handle a 200-250 shot of nitrous?

how about a fast intake with 90mm throttle
how much more are the 225 dart heads?
check out the nx nxl or cold fusion nitrous kit that plugs into the injector ports
i think you have to decide wheter you want low end grunt or hgih rpm for racing. my opinion is high rpm power, but if you plan on wheeling it, then i dunno. for racing, i would go with a higher cam

This fast intake really is expensive. I think its like $800. Do it!

just throwing this out there but Id look at Darts heads they look like they flow better in the mid range if you arent gonna have alot of lift might consider those and some dished pistons I know the CC on em is small. If your looking for low end Id take some duration/lift out of that cam.

If you do go with afr heads Id stepup to the 225's give futral a call they'll have all the answers

11.1 seems like an awfully high compression ratio for a 200 - 250 shot of NO2. Not sure how often you plan on spraying. If it's going to be on a regular basis (it's hard to resist) I'd seriously consider either a smaller shot or a lower compression ratio. Just my .02. Good luck!

i'd have to say you are on a good start with your parts list. if you're going to go with the good heads you may want more cam.

if you go with a cam that has off idle power you are going to be sacrificing max power up top and not taking advantage of those beautiful heads. The cam you picked out is a mildly aggressive one for a 408 and I would think the power would come on around 1500 rpms and die just before 6k. Me personnaly I would be on the phone talking to engine builders who have done it before and know what sort of rpm range to expect from which cam with those cubes.

the cam there with the 232/234 would be the choice of the two for the heads you want. power should come on real strong from about 2500-6500. it should be real strong off idle since even a stock converter is going to stall to around 2400 with the 408 and a good replacement converter will get you into the grunt right off idle.
