Default 408 build, 10 days.

hey guys, kinda need to know if this is possible for a 18 year old kid with a shop and tools, and a few friends.

i ship out for basic training in june, and when i'm done i get 10 days off before i ship out to AIT.

here's what i hope to get done in that time.

408 stroker built from the block up.
yank 3000 torque converter
built 4L80 tranny
6" lift

i do have some experience with engines, i helped my friend rebuild the top half of his 350, and put in a new tranny in his 84 camaro.

am i dreaming to think i can do all this in 10 days?

If you have all of the parts in hand, ready to go in, a guy there to help you, not get in the way, I don't see why it should be a big deal. ?? is do you have all the things at hand?

With all the parts in hand, a buddy to help, and 90% of the tools needed, it shouldn't be a problem.

BTW, where ya headed for basic?

i don't have all the parts right now, or i'd start in on it this weekend. right now i'm putting as much $$ away as i can, hoping i'll have enough to build it right after basic.

my dad used to run a mechanic shop, and i'll be using his tools/shop for the build. so i'm pretty sure i got the right tools.

oh, and i got basic at fort knox

Get all of the parts in hand and you should be good to go. Getting the tune down is going to take the longest.

I very highly doubt you are going to be able to order and receive parts within the 10 days you are on leave.

You going armored or cav?

when i turn 18, i'll get my inheritance from my mom. between that and what i have now i should have enough to get everything in one place before i get back from basic.

being in the middle of wyoming means leaving the state for tuning(as far as i know), so i'm probably gonna get a wheatly mail order tune, unless i can find a decent tuner fairly "close" to me.

I would say you can pull it off. Its only taken me about 5 months (from purchase date of the motor) to install (this weekend) of personally rebuilding a 6.0 for my truck. Not bad considering I went in blind with NO parts hoping I had a straight runner. I think you can pull it off with the right money, friend and logic.
