Default 400 small block lifter noise

I just picked up a 76 K5 blazer with a 400 small block. Its been sitting for a bit but does run. Got it to start up by putting gas in the carb. It sounds like the lifters are tapping. Could this be because the oil pump hasnt had time to pump up the lifters? What can I do to help the tap?

Thanks

it sat for probably 6 months maybe a little more. Only ran for maybe 5-10 seconds, only ran until what was in the carb was gone a couple of times

If they are a high performance valvetrain they will make noise in the gen 1 sbc. I had a huge cam in a 355 and it made a racket all the time. If they are a flat tappet hydraulic lifter and its sat for a while they may need a lil bit to pump up too. plus roller rockers make more noise too. Just throwing some ideas at ya, good luck. you have any pics of this thing?

Yea, 5-10 seconds isn't enough, especially on an engine that has sat for 6 months.

I've seen lazy lifters on a sitting engine take upwards of 10-15 minutes to let loose. Just drive the damn thing and don't worry about it. It'll shutup
