4.8L L20 swap to 6.0 LQ4
2011 Chevy Silverado LS, 4.8L V8, 4L60 trans.
Saw a thread on here from 2005 and was hoping to see if there was more recent advice on such a swap.
Looking to swap to a 6.0 as towing a 16ft enclosed trailer is pretty difficult. I've seen some other forums where guys have said "yup, bolt right in no problems", but was hoping someone could chime in with a bit more confidence and details about such a swap. Do oil/trans cooling lines all swap directly over, intake bolt right to the same spot? Engine mounts? I've heard if I keep the 4l60 I'd need an adaptor plate for the back of the LQ4.
Ideally I'd get a 6.0 that has injectors and full intake and wiring harness/ECU instead of trying to plug everything from the stock harness into the new setup and have to tune the new ECU. But if I wasn't able to, are the wiring harnesses the same?
Hoping to have y'all share as many details, good and bad about swapping up to a 6.0. Appreciate in advance!

These LS based engines 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, 6.2, etc. are all modular. Pretty are pretty much all the same.
Engine mounts will be the same and transmission and engine cooler lines will all mount the same.
Only trick is the flex plate: the LQ4 was mostly used in 2500-series trucks with the 4L80e, so in that case they have a different flex plate/spacer. Just reuse your 4.8 flex plate. I think only the Hummer LQ4 is the exception.
My bad: I failed to realize the 4.8 is a Gen IV. 🤦

You can't use a LQ4 if you want it to bolt up and go.
You need a LY6 or L96 engine. Those are GEN 4 engines that work with the GEN 4 computers/harness/sensors.
Just tune the 4.8 computer you have now. You can not use a 2011+ 6.0 computer because those are E78 controllers and you have a E38 controller. Also all the 6.0 computers use 6 speed transmission where as you have a 4L60e 4 speed auto, thus the requirement to keep your current computer.
