Default 4.8l Best Performance Part Under 1000$

i have a 4.8l chevy looking for the best way to spend a grand on the engine and get some hp going. any one know the best way to spend it? i already have pacesetter headers, exhaust, intake and wires. i know i need to get it tuned but besides that what is the best way to spend it. How hard is it to get a 6.l core installed in my truck? would that gain be alot? My truck is lifted so a cam is kinda hard to decide on. let me know what you guys think!!

I'd definitely say a tune. If you're gonna be adding horsepower then the trans will also need some attention. Start off with a 'vette servo and a Trans Go shift kit and a higher stall converter. The trans work won't add any power but it will make the tranny live longer and make your truck quicker.

programming would be one of them. honestly even though it's not to the engine, a 4.8L needs more stall and that would be the next place to go in my opinion. a stall with a shift kit. btw, what tires and gear do you have?

Stall and tune, but I only paid $1000 for my 6l.

Or you could always spray it.

I would say a good cam and springs with a stall and shift kit...
Cam about $250-300
springs about $150
Stall converter $350-$400
Transgo Shift kit $80-$100 Ebay

NOPE NOT YET. THE 35s hold up pretty damn well with the 4.8l. i know i should change the gears but not sure to exactly what for the application.

For 35's I'd go with 4.56's for 37's Id go the next step up. That will put you close to 3.73's with the stock 265/75's
