any of yall know if anyone has buit a 383 out of the 5.3 blocks??

The 4.8 has a longer rod to make up for the shorter stroke. This link is helpful.

Yep, and the motor plus truck is for sale right now!
Seriously, it is easy to do and makes for a fun project. Might not have saved too much cash over a 402/408ci crate motor but it sure beats watching Seinfeld reruns on TV at night. Plenty of 5.3 motors out there for way cheap. Also don't forget about the 4.8L motors if stroking it. Blocks and bore are identical, only difference is stroke as mentioned.
