What's the largest bore to do on the 4.8L block? I've heard people boring out 5.3 to 5.7, so is it easily attainable to produce this, or larger, with a 4.8?

bore only would be about a .030 or .040 overstock LS1 bore, not sure, but you need the block sonic tested anyways to see how far out you can go

once again.... the ONLY difference in the 4.8 and 5.3 are the stroke... same block casting.

5.3 stroke = 5.7 (LS1) stroke

4.8 bore = 5.3 bore...

Get a forged 5.3/5.7 crankshaft, and bore it to 3.898 with forged rods/pistons and give it hell... Good heads/cam/intake will have that thing making nasty power.... dont forget your 10lb insurance policy.

I'd forge everything, lighten up everything I could internally, get some killer high-comp heads, a screamer cam, and put it into an eighties Monte Carlo SS with a T-56.

Something about a 4.8L that begs to rev fast....

Your going to spend more on machine work, labor, pistons ect than the cost of a 5.3 or 5.7.

I'm thinking about just putting all 5.7 internals, mild cam, etc. That's sound obtainable right? Then after putting tha in, take the 5.3 out and do something crazy, perhaps some kinda boost.
