Default 4.8 Mods?

My friend has a 2003 Gray Short bed regular cab Truck. It has the 4.8 motor. Hes already saved up about 500.00 bucks what should his first round of mods be?

Standards...intake/exhaust. UPD and a single in 2 out Magnaflow will run about $600 +/- a little.

What about the LS1 intake? I saw another post where a guy had a supercharger and he ditched the stock intake for a LS1 intake.

I have a LS1 intake off of my 99 Vette in the garage.

Swaping intakes is pretty involved. One of the guys that has done it, (Ryan23Silverado) can give more details on it. XLR8NSS knows a thing or two on the subject as well. You will have to get the intake and exhaust opened up to take advantage of an intake swap anyway. Personally, while the LS1 intake will flow a little better than the truck intake, An LS6 would be the way to go to open up the options for even more mods that will benifit from more air. Cam, forced, headers, CUBES, etc... But the guts on a stock 4.8 won't last long aproching 400 to the wheels before KABOOM!!!!
