If you can get the LS6 valve springs to go with, I'd grab those too. Might as well swap out the pushrods too while you're in there, not very expensive. You'll have to check on the length of the pushrods. I know the LS1's are 7.400 long. As long as you take care of your engine, 310,000 miles shouldn't be a problem. Have you thought about upgrading your oil pump, timing chain, or thermostat while it's all going to be easily accessable? You wont see any crazy hp gains from the LS6 but it will be a little something. Why an LS6 cam if I can ask? Have you thought about a nice, small cam like a 224r, 228r, etc? If you went bigger, you'd need springs with springs with a lift a little bigger than the cam lift and hardened (and correct length) pushrods.

its gonna feel pretty laggy down low... and will pull really high. I think you can do better than that IMO.

212/218 low lift for instance. It will make more mid range than the LS6 by a long shot, and you won't have to spin the snot out of it to get everything out of the cam.

^^agreed. OP, I feel that you're going to be highly disapointed with just an LS6 cam. I've riden with a guy who did an LS6 cam, wasn't impressed at all. Do yourself a favor and go a little bigger. But if you really want an LS6, then good luck.

Its funny how a 'bigger' cam can perform so much better in the RPM range where it will actually be used... but its all to do with the timing of the valve events.

The 'larger' cam is MUCH more suited to a 4.8.
