When I had the 4.8 in I ran the proven 212/218 cam and it was a gret all around cam. I was running the stock converter as well. My buddy has a 2003 EC like me. He still ahs his 4.8 in and is running a 224/224 with a 3500 converter! Its not very streetable although he drives it everyday but it is a strong/fast truck. He is the kind of guy that goes extreme with everything for the hell of it though. Ive driven it many many times and its not as bad as it sounds but I wouldnt run his setup.
