i would do what fred said and save any money you would spend on mods and buy a 6.0. I've done the 4.8, 6.0 thing and there is no comparison.

Default not worth it

once u start more expensive mods like cam, heads, converter, etc. you will wish you had bought a 6.0. been there and done that the 4.8 is just an underpowered motor. im lookin to swap my with a lq9 or lq4. theres no replacement for displacement!!!

My new toy has the 4.8. I have a 6.0 on the engine stand for it, but gonna leave the 4.8 in for a while.
Id recommend do all your supporting mods first
Tune, full exhaust, torque converter, cai and possibly go to at least a 3.42, preferably 3.73-3.90 gears and a locking diff.
If you're still not happy, get a cam. If that isn't enough, quit throwing money at it and do the 6.0 then. Even with the 6.0 you're gonna want the exhaust, gears, cai etc, so it really isn't money wasted. If you're happy with the performance then (doubt you will be) then good. If not, at least everything will swap over to the 6.0
