Default 4.8/5.3 Swap for 88-98 4WD??

Does anyone make engine mounts for such a conversion? Also does anyone know if the stock truck manifolds and accessories will work with a truck such as this?
The truck is a 97 Tahoe 4wd 4 Door. I am just looking for some better gas milage than my 5.7 CPI can provide. Thanks, Brad

So wait, you're willing to spend $3000 on an engine swap for better gas mileage? Your logic seems a little messed up

Well if its 3000 then I wont spend it ya jackass...who said 3000 anyways? I am thinking like 1000-1500 tops asssuming I can get a higher milage 4.8 for under 1000. I actually found Street and Performances web site and they list everything and I actually dont have to buy many parts at all. I plan to make my own harness' and not run a/c or see if I can just notch my frame for the stock ac compressor. The truck they did was my exact truck a 97 Tahoe 4wd.

lol you could easily get it done for 1500 bucks.. truck will run a whole let better too.. I did a ls1 swap in a 94 and it has been great.. ls1 probably a little over your budget but you can get a 5.3 pretty cheap..

n/m on the a/c compressor thing....It said you couldnt use the stock one that comes with the 4.8 because it runs all the time and my truck needs one that cuts on and off....so I just wont have ac for a lil bit longer hehe since mine is currently not working.

I don't think he was tryin to be a Dick, He's just didn't see the sence in spending that kind of money for better gas milage, If you want a better motor thats a different story. We did a 5.3 on a Buddies 97 silverado. You can get a new bracket for the Old AC. You need a Flex plate spacer I think hughs sells them, motor mounts can be found on ebay or make them, Get a wiring diagram and splice into it for the trans. Old computer will mostly control the trans, Stock y-pipe from a 5.3. Try to get a complete take out with pcm and harness. It should come with all accessories. I think the total cost came to about 1500.00 for the swap. Good luck!

Hey man I really appreciate the info! Do you have any idea the name of the company that made that ac bracket cause that would be great if I could use my current compressor? Man this swap is getting cheaper and cheaper. Now I just need a 4.8. I think I might piece a motor together with some 6.0L heads so I can later run a turbo under the truck with stock manifolds (sts inspired) stock 4.8 short block, stock intake, turbo cam, and new inexpensive springs, pushrods, injectors, etc, etc, etc. Not by any means anything really fast just something to make it move down the road a lil bit faster. I have a bolt on cam only 6 speed LT1 T/A for handling and some drag racing.
