Default 4.8 to 5.3 swap 2002 Chevy 1500
How easy would it be to pull out my 4.8 and drop in a 5.3? And changes or no? And no I do not wanna do a 6.0 swap.

If it's a Gen3 to Gen3, it's easy. They are the same block really.

Just move tinware and accessories over.

And a tune.

Oil pan, front and rear covers, valve covers.

Tinware is a term from the SBC days where the covers were literally made of tin.

Okay I got you you thank for the information. So what about the computer? Do I need the ecu from the 5.3 also? Or can I just use my ecu from the 4.8?

Someone to tune it would be better IMO.

Richard, aka @Atomic and @Atomic Performance does remote tuning and is very good at it.

In all fairness I had never heard "tinware" either

Just trying to go about the best way without costing a lot. This 4.8 I have in my 2002 is junk and has about 250xxx on it.
