4.8 or 5.3 does it really matter if I am eventually doing a swap?

Question 4.8 or 5.3 does it really matter if I am eventually doing a swap?

Looking to buy an 03+ standard cab sport side chevy. does it matter if it has the smaller engine? What were the trans, rear end options with either motor? Thanks.

Doesn't matter, as long as it's a V8. trans is 4l60e, and rearend depends on the code in the glove box. GU5=3.23 GU6= 3.42 GT4=3.73

Yessir, if you're going to be swapping in something bigger anyway, it doesn't make a difference. Both the 4.8 and 5.3 come with the same 4L60E trans, but the 4.8 was also available with a manual. The PCM will need to be re-tuned when you swap in the larger mill, which is "easily" done with tuning software such as EFILive or HPTuners. If you don't know how to tune, we have sponsors such as BlackBear, Wheatley, and Nelson who can handle that for you
