Will the factory 4.8 computer work with the 6.0?

the truck will run but it won't run too great. i'm not sure if you have to change the entire computer or if you just have to reprogram the stock one.

5.3L would be a waste if you plan on taking it out. But if ya'll say its oh so great and powerful then go with it. the 4.8 has the same pistons as the 5.3, only with a shorter stroke. The exact stroke as the original 327 actually. Why isn't anyone reving them to 7500rpm? Lightweight rockers, 6.0l intake, headers, big injectors, 7500 RPM !

This 5.3 displaces 325 cubic inches. The old one was 327.

Get the 5.3 I have my foot in my 4.8 all the time because I think it is gutless. I am swaping to a 5.3 though. You will hate your self if you get a 4.8 and a 5.3 pulls up next to you and wants to race. Did not go for the 6.0 because I am trying to get diecent gas mileage. Considering I only get 15mpg in my scsb 4.8. And I only paid 800$ for a crate 5.3 cant beat that.

you must have your foot in it all the time, i get 15mpg+ with my 4x4, ext cab, 6.0 whipple. but then i barely have to move my foot for everyday driving. on a recent trip to colorado thru the mountains and on the flat i averaged 12mpg towing a 3000#+ enclosed trailer. i was used to a gas guzeling dodge and i think it would be imposiable to get this truck to get dodge like miliage no matter what i did to it. your crazy to go thru the hastle of swaping your engine and not going with a 6.0. either you want more power or you don't.

as far as the 6.0 swap goes it bolts right in, it is identical on the outside and the stock computer can handle the extra air just fine.

if i were buying again my criteriea would be V8,auto,air.
