Default 4.8 Or 5.3??

I Have Been Looking For A Chevy/ Gmc Truck 99 And Up For About Two Mon. Now, And I Really Want A 5.3 But I Have Had No Luck In Finding A Good One. Most Of The Ones I Have Found Are Wrecked, To Many Miles, Etc. Etc. Now I Have Found Alot Of 4.8's. Should I Just Get A 4.8 That Is In Good Condition Or Keep Looking For My Dream 5.3 Truck? I Plan On Keeping It For A Looooooooooong Time And I Also Plan On Fixing It Up. What Should I Do?

if you want a 5.3 they're out there, maybe not as many in el paso, but they're all over here in DFW, it's really your choice as far as what kind of truck you get. good luck.

It just depends to what extreme you are going to mod your truck. If you plan on going all out just get a a well taken care of high milege 99-01 4.8. You can find something like this very cheap. Then just change that 4.8 for a cammed 01+ 6.0. If you do not plan on changing your engine but still want to go fast, buy one with a 5.3.
OH.. BTW, be patient. When I was looking for a truck I did not want to buy something new. I wanted a 02 scsb 5.3 with a 3.73 rear end at the right price. It took me 3 months to find exactly what I wanted.

Might want to look in Ohio for a truck.
I bought a 2000 GMC Z71 RCSB 5.3 with 4.10's 33000 miles for $14400
Excellent condition
Ricart has the largest used car lot in the world.
I have bought 4 from him. http://www.ricart1.com/
Don't go by their asking price.........

Wildstyle,

I'm from El Paso, but go to school at A&M. I bought my truck at Tom Light, it was a ton cheaper. I tried to buy trucks from Mission, Rudolph, and the other one Jimmy Dick owns on Montana. I'd give up on finding a good truck there, EP is the land of the 6 cylinder truck, and probably not well taken care of.

They're both great engines. You can't go wrong either way.

Hey, great to hear from you too! The Vette is running great, as usual. How's your truck coming along? Got that sucker into the 10's yet?

Hey, btw, I want my UPD back.
