4.8 226/226 cam
#23
Be prepared to be dissapointed. Spinning your motor 7+k just for the cam to work is a stupid idea when you can achieve the same results with a smaller idea. First of how is this a "custom cam" who would spec that cam for a 4.8?

Why is spinning a 4.8 to 7k stupid? Upper rpms is where they make power, if the rest of the setup is right, it will run good. A 215 or 220 is still gonna be a turd down low in a 4.8. I have put a 226 226 in a 5.3 and power peaked around 6400 or so, sure the 4.8 will peak higher, but with the right combo it would run great. The 5.3 engine I istalled it in ran 8.30's 1/8 mile with just a tt3000 and 4 10's. It ran 1.8 sixties and mph was great.

that cam might work but there is obviously better options. as you can see above me 214/220 and he ran 13.2's so the OP should run 13.2's cause he wont have pRC's but the cam should make up for it right?
also i would trust stock48's judgment, afterall he is only running 9.60's at 5000+ elevation with stock heads and intake manifold. not that impressive at all

to big was the same thing they said about the cam a friend used o nhis 5.3 i think it was a 232/.605 236/.612 i think not sure and then there the one they used on my truck 236 236 and still on a 5.3 so i think u should be okay with at least a 3600 stall at least

A 4.8 needs to spin high, its a short stroke, its the nature of the beast. It was the same with sbc 327's vs 350's. 3 years ago people would call you crazy for running more than a 224 in a 5.3. Now take a look at how many people have picked up et and mph with more cam. It just depends on where u want to make your power.
