Sure you can, all you need is a throttle body spacer, they give you like a kazillion hp/tq!
I would recomend a good stall/ gear combo this should be determined by tire height etc.
Also a great tune, dyno or Nelson IMO
longtube headers
And full boltons, every little bit helps, Like e-fans, pulleys etc.
Please note that 13's can be alot $cheaper with the 6.0swap
with that swap and a tune your there!

Stock: 15.81 @ 90mph
I ran a 15.5@90.5 with a Muffler & stock intake modified/ those mods + 125 shot I ran a 14.3 @ 98mph.. Now I have gear, tune, posi, Intake , and throttle body spacer ..
My best time is 15.5 @ 92.1 and that was without gear, posi, and tune..

What gears do you have? I'm running 3.73's and IMO a 4.8 should have no higher gears than that because of its lack of torque. A good converter and lower gears should definitely help along with a good tune. The mileage difference isn't that bad with the lower gears; best I ever got was a little over 21 mpg. It'd a little less with the 4.10's but worth it in the long run.
