4.5" intake for the twin screw
#1
I recently put some heads and a cam on my truck (2008 RCSB with a Vortech/Lysholm twin screw). After raising the rev limiter and shifting at 6300 I noticed my boost was really dropping off at high rpms (down to 7.5 lbs at higher rpms from 10 lbs). I figured I had two options: upgrade the supercharger inlet or upgrade the intake tube, MAF and filter. I'll eventually swap over the the Camaro supercharger intake as well, but I am pleased to say the truck holds 10 lbs of boost all the way to the shift points now. I also removed the plastic that sits by the side of the radiator so that there is a straight shot to my filter through the grill. The truck pulls much harder at the top of each gear now.
I used a 4.5" OD 11 gauge aluminum tube with a 45, a LS7 MAF and a AFE dry filter (4.5 inlet 8.5" at base and 7" at the end and 8" long).
Well worth the $ for this upgrade. The aluminum bend was $29, the filter was $87, the MAF was $69.

[QUOTE=beastmode;5138742]Very nice! You running ls7 throttle body?
Thanks.
I'm running the stock 87mm truck throttle body. I ordered the Camaro intake this week (from throttle body to supercharger). It looks to be around 4". After I get the new intake and see what it gives me, I'll look at upgrading the throttle body.
Thanks.

Nice work. A low restriction inlet always helps the pd superchargers. I noticed a 1-1.5psi difference from a 3.5" intake tube and stock 87mm throttle body to a 4" tube and 95mm tb. You may want to think about fabbing a box or shield to isolate the filter from the engine compartment. The top mount twin-screws have an issue with heat anyway so the lower the inlet temps, the less that little intercooler has to over come.

where are you guys getting these monster tubes with the maf bongs on them?
I have a LS7 TB and bought the spectre 4in housing for my ls7 maf but cant really seem to find good tubing to get all the way over...

An industrial supply company. I ordered what I thought I needed and it worked out. I also used the GM MAF bung (it is set up of 4" OD tubing so I had to massage it to fit).
