4.3L Won't Start-Help!
#1
Hi guys,
Noob here, but I've been lurking on here here and the LS1tech site for a couple of months. Learned a lot of great stuff already, and I'm hoping you can help me out.
I have a 98 Sonoma with a 4.3L (115k miles) that is not starting in damp/wet conditions. A couple weeks ago, I hit a small lake in the road at about 30 mph in a thunderstorm. A couple miles down the road, my truck stalled for the first time ever. After an hour of intermitant cranking, it fired up, ran like crap, and eventiually settled down and ran fine. Since then, I have had a half dozen times when the dam thing wouldn't start-always when the truck has sat a while and the ground was wet or damp.
It cranks hard, and I am pretty sure i hear the fuel pump running (and i smell gas,) so i figure it is not a battery or fuel problem.
I figured I had damaged a plug or wire or maybe the splash cracked my distributor cap. So i replaced the plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. I figured this addressed the likely sources of spark problems, so i'm at my wits end trying to figure out what's still wrong.
Any ideas? Many thanks in advance-i just wish i had a better reason for my first post...

i should add that the alternator and battery are both about 6 months old, so i don't think they're contributing to the problem.
i have noticed that i have not been getting the SES display at startup at times. could this indicate a faulty fuse or computer connection problem?
