$$$ Billet cranks $$$

You could build and swap in a small block for well under what the crank alone would cost you to stroke it. I've seen ONE stroker crank for a 4.3 go on EBay for around $1800 and that was years ago... New they're $3 grand plus... Some companies offer offset ground stock cranks, but it's taking a huge chance on an already weak piece. You're better off trying to get the Bowtie 18 degree heads and intake than you are worrying about more cubes...

someone at work inquired about one, I told him he'd be better off to just start working on a v8.

Bingo!
Nascar used to run them in the ARCA classes. Picking up some of their used stuff would be the best thing. GMPP used to have all kinds of stuff for them due to nascar. Check ebay and I know there are a lot of used nascar parts places stationed out of the carolinas.
Just doing a simple 350 would be much cheaper and go faster.

I'm pretty sure Speed-o-motive has some cheap 4.3 strokers, but I think they're just offset stock ones. Besides, it'd still be under 300ci.

edit: Speed-o-motive has this:

HYPEREUTECTIC PISTON CRANK KIT

$736.00

EACH KIT INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: NEW HI-NODULAR 3.48" I-BEAM RODS WITH ARP BOLTS & FULL FLOATING PIN
KEITH BLACK HYPEREUTECTIC FLAT -TOP PISTONS ZERO DECK COMPRESSION RATIO: 55cc = 10.0-1, 64cc = 9.0-1, 76cc = 8.0-1

SEALED POWER CAST RING SET
CLEVITE TRI-METAL MAIN & ROD BEARINGS
FREE SHIPPING

They say it'll make you're 4.3 a 305

Then there's this one:
HYPEREUTECTIC PISTON CRANK KIT $875.00

EACH KIT INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: HI-NODULAR CAST 3.750" STOKER CRANK
GM 5.565" STAGE 1 I-BEAM RODS WIT ARP ROD BOLTS
KEITH BLACK HYPEREUTECTIC FLAT-TOP PISTONS ZERO DECK COMPRESSION RATIO: 55cc =10.0-1, 58cc = 9.6-1, 64cc = 9.6-1, 76cc = 8.0-1

SEALED POWER CAST RING SET
CLEVITE TRI-METAL MAIN & ROD BEARINGS
FREE SHIPPING INCLUDED

That makes a 4.3 a 334?!?
