Default 4.3 V-6 To Gen III V-8

Im wanting to swap a GEN III V-8 into my truck. My worries are first the transmission...will it bolt up to the 5.3 or 6.0...or atleast the bell housing. SDPC2000.com makes a t-56 to t-5 bellhousing trans. Also...how hard will the swap be....do i need new fans, radiator or other accessories?...just any general info will help!

Thanks Dustin

Ron (1BADC10) is just finishing his swap of a 5.3 into a '86, I'll send him a link to this thread so you can get his input

Judging from you're sig, looks as though you're looking to swap the '05's motor. I hope to be of as much help as I possibly can.

If I'm not mistaken, the T-56s were used on the late 90's to '06 model vettes and from mid 90's to '02 f-bodies. Those were LS based motors, so you shouldn't have any problems. Maybe someone can chime in to confirm. The Borg-Warner T-56s did. Think they're built by Tremec now. An M6 would've been nice in my truck, but I think I have enuff traction issues as is.

Post any specific questions that you need answered, and I will (as well as others) do what I can to answer.

First im wondring if the inlet shaft will work from my T-5 on my V-6 into a 5.3, or 6.0...some say bellhouseing issues...but im not sure...also Scoggin Dickey builds a T-56 that bolts to a T-5 bellhousing. Also...when changing from a 4.3 to a 5.3 or 6.0 what do i have to add?...i know for sure computer and wireing...but what about radiator and other accessories like that?

Thanks Dustin

I'm afraid I cannot answer much about the transmission.

Accessories from the 4.3 won't work with the 5.3/6.0 motors. You'll definitely want to look into getting a complete swap setup: complete motor (intake to oil pan), accessories, engine harness (or custom harness from various places), and PCM. Pretty sure the 4.3 PCM will do no good. Have a buddy of mine utilizing his stock V6 PCM to control ABS, VATS, etc. He's got a seperate PCM for engine controls.

Seems overwhelming, but just take the time to cover all your angles. Helps to have cashflow too.

your radiator will work
tranny should bolt up with a new flexplate
PCM will work if you have it reflashed

You will need some engine mounts and registers
complete engine with harness

and you will have to run new fuel lines, the ones on there are hard and they will not be in the correct positioning for the V8

your stock fuse box will work as well

Good luck!

average swap price 3300.00 for a 6.0 swap
not including tranny or any performace parts

3300.00 for engine, i was assuming you would be doing the swap yourself.

you can get a complete 6.0 for 2500 give or take
100.00 engine mounts
490.00 for a good tune that you can get updated for free

210.00 for the small things like oil and fuel line connections..

i also forgot to add in headers since they are mandatory in this swap
unless for some strange reason you would like to go with stock mainifolds..
soo this will be around 700.00 for a good exhaust setup..

new total around 4000.00 also you might want a cam stall intake which can add up to another grand easily then gears and a good posi unit, another 700.00

so, you see this can cost 6000.00 give or take.....
