Default 4.3 to 6.0 swap?

has this been done? it'd be a lot easier for me money-wise to get a v6 RCSB and if possible put a 6.0 and eventually a 4L80E in

what things would i need to do? apparently the terms '4.3' or 'v6' are too short to search for. and the only things i've learned from a previous thread are pcm, trans, engine, tcase (lets assume the truck is a v6), and wiring need to be changed.

any idea on lists of what needs to be changed and an estimated cost?

thanks a ton

It would be much easier to start with the 4.8 since the 6.0 is a plug and play drop-in replacement. The 4L80E is not nearly as easy though, no matter what you start with.

If you are looking at used like a 2003 truck,a 4.3 is a $850 deduct in the kelly blue book(wholesale book) while a 4.8 is a zero add and the 5.3 is a $400 add.Looking at new it will be a little bit more of a difference.Start with a v8 truck it will be cheaper in the long run even if you dont value your labor.I gather you are doing the work.

The 4.8 will be better. I'm pretty sure I've read that the motor mounts aren't the same. Plus the 4.8 may cost alittle more but you can sell the engine and recover some of the cost of the 6.0. Good luck to you.

understand that the 4.3 and the 6.0 are based on totally different technology. you'd need new motor mounts, pcm, wiring harness, radiator, tranny...ect. see this attached link for info i've scrounged for swaps such as this.

http://forum.ls1truck.com/index.php?showtopic=3419

this is mainly for 4.3->4.8/5.3/5.7 swaps, so include everything you'd need to swap from a 4.8 to a 6.0 on top of what i've listed in this link. When swapping to the LS1, we also had to change out the fuel rail...the 4.3 is a return fuel system and the ls1 is a dead-head.

Honestly, its not a bad swap, unless you do the full ls1 swap i did, but it's not the "weekend stab" like a 4.8->6.0 would be.

thanks for the info. maybe eventually turbo-ing a 4.8 or 5.3 would be just as good for me

so a 4.3->5.3 swap isn't all that bad?
