Default 4.10's???

Which would be a better mod with my current setup, 4.10's in the front and back (if i can find them) or a yank stall. I want a stall but I think if I go with 4.10's after the stall it will be to much for normal driving around town. Lots of RPM's and a lower gear=uncontrolled wheelspin. It builds instant boost and torque off idle too with the SC. I think with the 285/75 tires I have now it could be geared a little lower anyways it doesn't even shift out of 2nd until 98mph and on the dyno it carried 3rd until 155

So lets hear what you think stall gears or both?

Cant comment on the Stall and the gears, but I can say go for the Gears! I have 4:10's in my truck and it is a whole lotta fun!

Ya, well it is easy to get them for a 2wd, I am having a hard time finding the front diff gears. If it wasn't winter here I would put some 4.10's in the rear to see how I liked it but then with my luck it would snow and I would have no 4wd. I currently have 3.73's

Most of the f body guys reccommend getting a stall before gears.

Definately get a stall before gears.

Going to all of the trouble to swap out front and rear gears to just go up one size wouldn't be worth it IMO.

Go with the stall,The difference between the 3.73 and 4.10s isn't worth the expense. If you want more gear go to a shorter tire.A 29" tire with 3.73 gearing will give good accelaration, decent handling and a load rating high enough to use the truck to work.

155mph in 3rd !!!!.....thats insane !!!

I HAVE 4.10s, a heavier truck than yours, and a worse 1st gear (2.48:1) and would still definitely reccommend a stall first !!

Hmm .. this I have experience with ..

The z71 responded VERY well to a stall! I absolutely loved that TT2600 that was in it. It was VERY streetable and was not bad at all towing. I had 3.73's in my truck and same size tires as you did. They didn't break loose unless I tried to break them loose. I would have gone with the stall over gears any day of the week!

with the torque that the magnacharger develops, i would shoot for gears first but that would be pretty pricey for two sets. get the converter.
