4.10 gears or 17's with et streets???

Going to the track on November 10th to run the quarter for the first time. I have run the 1/8th mile with my 22's with 305/45/22 nitto 420's and had no problem hooking. Cut a 2.09 60ft time. My debate is should I spend the money on some stock 17 inch wheels and put some 295/45/17 ET Streets on it for the track or just go ahead and regear from 3.42s to 4.10s. I should see a .5 drop with the way shorter ET streets but if I can hook my 22's with 4.10s I think it might be the same difference. I want to do both but only got the money for one or the other. Will cost about the same either way. What do yall think?

If the truck is your daily driver, keep in mind that the 4.10s will kill your highway mileage. I just went from 3.73s to 4.10s and noticed a significant drop in mileage. However, my truck isn't my daily so I didn't care. My off the line performance did improve drastically though.

Don't think the 4.10s would hurt since you're 6 speed but I would definitely do the 17s. The rotational mass alone (and traction) not even counting the tire diameter would make a huge difference from the heavy 22s. Combined with a shorter tire it is a win-win. Also you're not burning up your street tires which I am sure they don't give away for pennies. Nice ride!

That's what I like to hear! Going to take everything off the truck that I can for raceday. Hopefully I can get it down to 5000lb. Hoping to run a 12.8. Never run the quarter mile before.

Is the only change going to be the tires? That's a lot of time to make up with that swap alone... but based on the parts listed in your sig I wouldnt think its out of the question at all. I know you'll need a huge improvement on your previous 60'. I don't think you'll hit those times without hitting a 1.7x 60'

I figure it this way. For every 25lbs your wheel/tire combo loses you will pick up a tenth in the 1/4. That's only 6.25lbs per wheel. In addition for every 100lbs of body weight your truck loses you will pick up a tenth. So 300lbs 3 tenths and 50lbs from the wheels and tires should net another 2 tenths so you might drop 3-5 tenths from weight loss.
