I know the budget is low, but thats just for in the next 2-3 months. Over time, I will be able to put a lot more into it. Right now I am a broke college kid. That is another reason why I was asking what would be a good start point and can work my way from the inside out of the motor over time as I am able to round up more funding to put into it.

yes a 60 can but they are weak and prone to breaking. if you want that kind of power from a 383 without boost or a bottle it can be done easily. but in your case i think it would be much easier to buy another block and build it as you can afford parts. i started my 383 build about 2 months ago and started tracking my progress in a thread on here. this way you can build and drive your truck until you are ready to swap everything.

Every single external component will unbolt from any 4.8, 5.3, or 6.0 and bolt up to any of the others. They are externally identical. Transmissions, pulleys, etc are 100% interchangeable.

Well heres an idea...find a running 6.0, change the cam, and swap it in. That may satisfy you for now, and if its not, swap the 5.3 back in, and build up the 6.0. By that time you will have plenty of play time under the hood.

I agree with Atomic. Plus you can buy and cam a 6.0 and probably still be money ahead of a stroked 5.3. You can make some serious power with a cammed 6.0, and that will give you an idea where to go from there.

The internals on the 6.0 will be able to hold up w/o boost or nitrous on it for a pretty good while even with new h/c/i would it not? I like the idea of doing that to it so I do not have to break it down and replace with forged parts which would save a lot of money on my budget, but would the current computer run just a stock 6.0 or would it need to be retuned? I'm sure it would with a cam?

the bottom end of a 6.0 will handle the top end swap without issues. but your PCM will have to be custom tuned. email Wheatley and ask what he can do for you.

You're going to need a tune no matter what you do. You could just cam the 6.0 and get a lot more performance than you already have without any serious worries about reliability for a long time. The internals will be just fine.

Lol I'm glad everyone on here knows more then I do. Its looking more like a 6.0 swap with a built top end. Sounds much easier and gives me more options in the future. Do most people that do that get LS3 intake and L92 heads? Would the stock fuel system have to be upgraded to handle the new motor? And what is the average Hp/Tq range for a 6.0 with h/c/i upgrade? I know it depends on what kind you do, but just a general range. This could give me a little bit more money to do the trans swap at the same time the engine is out.
