Default 3" Catalytic Converters on Pacesetter

I'm thinking of installing some catalytic converters on my pacesetter longtubes. All of the long tubes i've seen with cats as part of the assembly are 2.5" and i want to keep the 3". Also, i can't justify spending over $1200 for new longtubes and cats when i can spend $200 and weld some in. what do you guys think of these cat's?

i want to use some of the 3" collector rings instead of welding the cats in permanently so i can access parts and switch them out when needed. do you forsee any issues using the above catalytic converters? i'm even thinking of these as they are heavy metal loaded and can handle more.

Thanks

Since you have LTs you wont smog anyways, So why run cats? unless you hate the smell or want them for if a CHP decides to look under there. If you are doing incase a cop decides to peak under there, I recommend these: http://www.siliconeintakes.com/produ...1ecabc6be18d13

I have the 54959s but they are further back. They work fine so far, but ive heard of them blowing their guts out under boost. Just ask (Pat) evilgmc about that.

I was going to do the same thing with those same cats but summit wont ship any non CARB legal cats into California. I tried anyway and they canceled my order. Some sort of strange law I guess.

got any family outside cali? order it, have it shipped to their place, then they ship to you.

I really like those blank cats... very interesting because I was thinking the same thing. I dont wanna run cats, yet I bet with the coppers around here at times, they may wanna look under and I wanna be safe.

Not a bad idea...you could always have the stuff shipped to someone close to you in your PT.net family

yeah, i'm going to ship them to a friend in Vegas and have him ship it to me. Or, it gives me a reason to visit Sin City.

i want to run cats because of the smell and i actually want to reduce emissions since i have a lot of kids running around the truck, especially during summer when i'm towing the boat around.

Did you get your's before the law passed on 1/1/09? I was looking into the Carsound ones and they look good, except they are twice the price AND they are 49-state carb legal. And of course that 1 state where they are NOT legal is California.
