I went from 3.42 gears and 31" tires and running 15 flat to 4.10 gears and 28" tires running 15 flat. So didn't gain a damn thang! I would look into buying some other mod unless you plan on pulling lots of weight around.

Hey 2000 SS what mods did you have when you did the gear swap????????? If you have a supercharger and 3.42's and then you go to 4.10;s it might not make a big difference but for me who has minimum mods it really helped all types of driving and obviouslt the 1/4!!!!!!!!!

Hey CARAZYCUTER 4.8 why are you lying to everyone here saying you have the 4.8? Just because you have a 5" exhaust tip doesnt make your 4.3 a 4.8!!!

I dont doubt you got a cam swap but instead of the Z06 to the comp it was the Z06 back to stock! Ive seen CARAZYCUTER 4.3 tea bag a chow and a baby squirel!

I had everything in my signature at the bottom of this post. The only thing I can think of keeping me from getting any faster is I went from open differential to Eaton posi causing more drag.

Notice: You know just about everyone on here has made a gear change, Now why aren't we seeing any posts on the amount of E.T. the gear change added? I'm just trying to keep you from blowing a $1000 dollars for nothing. Lets hear ya'll E.T. gains, I know ya'll got them gears!

I ran a 15.40 with my 99 ecsb silverado. Mods were K&N FIPK, BBK 80mm TB, TB spacer, Gibson shortys, hpp3, and a flowmaster. Gears were 3.42 open diff.

I ran a 14.99 with it ONLY changing from the 3.42 open diff to a 3.73 locking diff. Same tires, same track and when I ran the 14.99 it was about 10 degrees hotter outside. I went from a 2.4 60' to a 2.2 60'.

SS I have no clue why you didnt see a lowet ET it may have been the mods you already had! Two people that drove my truck with current mods when I had the 3.42's straight up told me that my gearing sucked and was holding me back big time because my truck would pull so hard after like 30 but before that is had to work to get up! The guys that did my install also did my dyno 3 weeks before the gears were done said that with my dyno numbers,my mods, and by my current 16.4 1/4 ET that gears were gonna make a huge difference! The only time I usually here that people arent seeing any real gains with 4.10's is if they had 3.73 first or they didnt have a stock stall! All I know is that it shaved 4.2 off my 1/4 mile and CARAZYCUTER 4.8 is a witness to before and after and It was wellw orth the $$$. How far away were you before and after 1/4 mile runs???

well in the old truck i tried the stock gears at the track then 4.10 gears then to 3.73 gears and back to 4.10 gears times as follows stock gears and stock truck 17.1 to 4.10 16.5 then the mods you see except for the nelson tune ran a 15.3 then changed to 3.73 and ran a 15.6 then back to the 4.10 gears and ran a 15.3 then the nelson tune and ran the best time with the 4.10 of 14.94 the money spent was well worth the time so you and everyone else can see what to expect from gear changes and if you do change out gears make sure the conditions are the same as when you ran at the track this is one of the best ways to get a true reading "MO" later and sorry so long. hope it helps..

I think its important to go with what you enjoy for your routine daily driving if you do so. You can always build a setup around your gears.

i notice alot of yall are using 4.10's to compensate for lack of power. i'd personally spend the money elsewhere.

I disagree but not completly--You can build around your gearing say you have 3.42's like I had alot of people say that that is a good ratio for SC's and N20. For
me and the driving I do the 3.42's were horrible. They were great on the freeway/Interstate because I could cruise at 80-85 and be under 2000 rpm but getting on the freeway was a different story! I had to dig deep to get on it in the fashion I like to do it in! I didnt really get the 4.10's because of the lack of power! I was very pleased with the power I had but the power I had at mid-high rpm and above 35 mph didnt match what I had down low with the 3.42's. I swear when I had the 3.42 ratio I would put the pedal all the way down at say a stop light and when it hit 35 or whatever rpm it would just pull like I had a little bump of N20! I would realy only recommend 4.10's to someone who has 3.42's and wants alot better pull. If I had 3.73's I would have never of gone to 4.10's if I wanted to do a swap I would go to 4.56's which would be wild! Another thing is towing which I never have and never will do but having the 4.8 and a 3.42 gear towing would have sucked ***. I hauled a few medium weight loads and my truck didnt like and it had everything to do with the 3.42's but I didnt get the 4.10's to tow. I was advised by 3 people(2 who drove my truck and 1 that knows more about ls1's than anyone I know and who dynoed my truck as well as did my install) that the 4.10's would help me out a whole bunch and did!

That's awesome. Everybody seems to be loosing around .2-.4 at the track with gear swaps. I'm dying to get my money saved up and get my 3.90/Eaton swap!

When I meet Blake and Joey up at the track after the swap, it's gonna be

By the way, everybody with a gear swap, how does 3rd gear pull?
