Default 2wd vs 4wd 4L80E

I've found a great deal on a 4wd 4L80E. What would it take to convert it to 2wd--just a tailshaft housing and new output shaft? Anyone know where I could get my hands on those parts?

Well just a tailshaft entails full disassembly to install... if you still want that one, you'd need to look for some tranny dismantlers. Thers'a few on ebay I bought some valve bodies from. Ohio City I think is one.

I found a place in town that will sell me the housing and shaft for $40 each. I plan on going through the tranny anyway and putting Red Eagles/Kolenes in it, and a shift kit. My dad has built trannys before and I'm sure that he can handle this one.

Is that the only difference? Does anyone know?

Tailshafts are typically the difference in 2x4 and 4x4 trannies. Red Eagles kick ***, I like them a lot more now. With a full good build and those quality frictions...I'd like to see you push that tranny.
