Default Is the 295hp LM7 5.3 the best available in reg cab?

Dad is looking at RCSB 2wd trucks and wouldn't mind getting the aluminum 5.3 motor (L33) or the Vortec Max package if it can be ordered. So far the only thing I've seen are LM7s though.

Any way to get a 4L65E/70E in a reg cab or the 9.5" rear end? This truck will hopefully visit Magnuson soon after purchased if I can taunt him into doing it.

i would say that the l33 is only available in ext. cabs and cc and i think the 1500's don't get the 4l65-e only like the ss, but you can beef up that 4l60-e to run that mugnuson, i think a tranny shift kit, vette servo and idk what more can hold that power i would think there is TM inthere programing so it wont blow a stock tranny, someone who has one will chime in. But ya i think thats the engine you gonna have to stick to if you want reg cab, but you can alaways do a swap.

Pretty muched sumed up!!

Yes, the LM7 is the best you can get for now on a reg cab and I belive the 9.5 rear is only availabe in the SS's and the Vortec Max Pack in e/cabs. But there is rumors that the Vortec Max Pack will be available in a RC but who knows when will that happend?

not available yet, but coming soon. i recomend getting the L59 if you plan to do future mods. you can make for one nice truck though using almost all gm parts. here's one of the 05' silverado conversions i did at work using all gm accessories with the exception of the grill from carriage works and k and n series 77.

Thanks all!

Not sure how long he'll be waiting before he buys the new truck. He tried an "experiment" in trading in his Avalanche for a new 330i and hasn't stopped bitching since, so it's probably going to be pretty soon.
