are you planing on going on a stall ? if so you options in cams came widen a little , im sure that 261 xfi has great low end but like I said a stall will let you afford a bigger cam which will have a better mid to top end and you low wnd will be coverd by the your aftermarket stall ...

Wasn't planning on a stall, would the cam I listed be good for towing and burning rubber?

I have that cam in my '07 Tahoe. It provided gains right off idle, and has excellent low-mid range responsiveness. I gained .5 seconds in the quarter mile and about 6 mph. Keep in mind my Tahoe came with a larger cam than the 99-06 trucks have, so gains should be more noticeable in the older trucks.

what are you plans goals so to speak ? like stated b4 it seems lke that cam will gain performance of idle , now as far as head work well the cam lift is not that big so I think you heads will flow it of corse ported heads never hurt but ....now I think younshould set you goals and then start shopping , just my .2 reading and reaserching might just save you a lot of cash and labor , ask me ive been through 2 cam swaps , 2 head swaps and 2 converters , untill i finally got my dump running to my satisfaction ... and all couse i dint read and do reaserch...lol
