I don't tow, don't do any offroading, but i do use 4wd in the winter. I think I know what you mean by a loose converter and I would say no. I think mine feels loose now.

With that big of a truck, and the low rpm torque of the whipple, I'd say get a Yank TT2600. That should put you right in the meat of your powerband when you get on it. But it'll still be nice and tight for daily driving.

That's exactly what I was thinking too.
Unless he's looking to really haul ***, the only other converter I'd consider would be a PI Vig for the 4L80E.
