I'm sure this is a asked alot question but I was wandering if I should put 243syou on my lq9 before I put it back in the truck if its a noticeable power difference? Ill be running a torque2 cam as well

they are the same head
243 have a smaller combustion chamber
but the 317 could be milled to be the equivalent to 243s

lq9 317 heads compresion around 10.2
lq9 243 heads compression around 10.8-11.01

i beleive the 243 chamber is around 64cc
317 are around 76cc

Def do it the 317 heads and 243 heads have the same intake and exhaust ports basically but the big difference is the combustion chamber size 317 have 72cc and the 243 have 64cc so you'll bump the compression up to 10.9 to 11.1 basically you'll have a iron LS2

Stock for stock the 243's do flow better than the 317's, not by a ton but they do flow better for sure. As well as what has already been mentioned the increase in compression is definitely nice too by going with the 243's!

My vote is 243's... the tv.2 cam wants more compression that 243 heads will deliver....it should be cheap enough to have the 243 heads milled to .010 just to have a small bump in even more compression and an even perfect gasket surface area for better sealing
