Magic,

Those are NOT 243 heads. As was mentioned above, 243 heads have a "D" shaped exhaust port. The picture N/ALS1 posted is correct

I was going to say, the magazine where I got the info must be wrong and he misinformed millions of people. Plus I bought the wrong ones with a stamp that says 243. LOL

Yes there should also be a "243" number under the valve cover next to the rocker stands, many LS1 and LS6 heads both have the triangle stamps..that pretty much means nothing.

243 and 799 heads are the same, the DO have the D shape exhaust port. If its oval they are LS1 heads, 241, 853, 806

there should be an 8 digit number in side the head. might be broken up in to 2 sets of 4 numbers. Something like 1247 7234 I dont have the exact numbers but thats how you would tell if there ground of the out side. other wise the looke like every other LS head...
