LSA = Lobe Seperation Angle. This is the angle, in degrees, between the intake and exhaust lobes on the cam. It is ground in from the manufacturer.

BigTex- what cam would you recommend for a magnacharged 5.3? just something for street use and to have fun with. Is a 212/218 to agressive with the SC? don't really want to spin it past 5500 to see peak just want a good power buildup past 2000 without alot of tuning or idle issues
thanks

How much is to much lift with stock heads and internals? I dont want to have to worry about the valves and piston meeting up.

I am still trying to figure out all this cam stuff. Is it the duration, lsa or lift that determines how much hp and tq you will get. And does one affect hp and tq more than the other? Trying to figure this stuff out on my own so I can pic a very torquey low end cam on my own. Since I know what I want and wont have to tell someone else what I am looking for.

so the 212/218 cam will work better than a ls6 cam for forced induction right and what valvetrain to use

I was just on the phone to Comp Cams the other day.....I explained that I tow 9000+ all the time, I wanted a smooth idle, improved low-end torque as well as good high-rpm power and, I have a stock converter (I figured that was a pretty tall order and I would have to compromise somewhere).....they reccomended a 216/216 .559/.559 113* lsa and said it should do all of the abouve except have a glass-smooth idle

Did they give any hint as to what the gains would be? Did you run it through your Desktop dyno software yet?

they said I should see 35-40hp with stock heads and manifolds....40-45 with headers

I did run it through my software and it came out about the same....it seems some on here don't like that software so I am not going to use numbers from it unless someone asks

That cam sounds like a winner to me. Another item off the shopping list.

Brad, no, we have not installed headers on Jonathan's truck. We will doing that in the coming months, along with some Flex-a-lite electric fans.

Let me know how the TR220 works out.

Jason
