Ok the reason Im not doing this in the app section is because I want to hear from you performance freaks! Those of you that went from stock to 20's or above what kinda of performance losses did you see? ET's and overall SOTP feelings? Ive seen some say that their 20's weighed less than their stock rollers if true who makes a real light 20? Was the change night and day? I know handling and looks are better but do you who ahve 20's or up think it was worth the upgrade?

 

i think they do make liite ones. centerline does i know.the chrome ones are heavy. to go wide you will have to go tall. i went from 20's to 18's and i am glad i did. a lot more tire choices as well. hell mine are 285/50/18 and the are 11.5 wide.

 

My 20's made a huge difference(nice looking, but huge losses in SOTP). At the dyno they said that they had a big negative impact on the numbers I put down (along with the stall coverter). Centerlines have some real nice 22's that are pretty lightweight (lighter than my 20's for sure), so I may need to swap

 

You mean to say the Centerline polished are lighter than the chrome ones? No wonder my chrome Stingrays III with the Cooper Xeon 275/45/20 came in at 70.5 pounds. I was expecting them to in the 50's range.

 

do a search on this topic, alot of good info.
20" tires alone are almost, if not around 30lbs.
So basically finding a 20" wheel under 30 lbs we'll put you a little heavier than stock.

Intro/Centerline/Budnik/Billet Specialties/Boyds etc.. are good light Billet wheels.

Off the shelf chrome and aluminum tend to be alot heavier and alot cheaper.

I downsized from 20's (Moda's) to Boyd 18's and I don't regret it at all. I would of kept the 20's if I could buy a radix but thats aother story.

I lost 4/10's consistent due to the 20's not hooking with the stall(no matter what I did) and the added rotating mass.
The 20's without the stall wasn't to bad. But I didn't have alot of power to spin them.

I've been considering "downgrading" my factory 20's. Maybe 18's or so. I'm not sure.

I lost HUGE going from the stock 245/75-16's to 285/50-20's, MAJOR SOTP difference and I actually think my traction is worse with the 20's.....but I wouldn't give up the look of the 20's for anything

 

When I take off my Centerline Lexi's with 285/50/20's and go to my Escalade wheels with 275/55/17's my ET drops 3 tenths! I realize that some of it is because they are shorter tires and thus give more gear ratio but most of it is due to the excess weight.

 

I picked up 0.3 by lowering my truck and putting on my 20" Boyds. The rims are pretty light, and I'm running a relatively small 20" tire (255/35/20), but they don't hook worth a crap at the track--my best short time was a 2.29 with them.

Just get some 20s or 22s for the street, and some stock 16" aluminum wheels/DR's for the strip.
