2012 lifted 5.3 cammed
#1
I have a 2012 5.3 on a 6" lift, wanting to do a couple mods to it. First off, I have not changed my gears yet, as i'm still undecided on what to go with. Longtubes are on the way, I'm just running a Borla Xr-1 muffler dumped. I already have a Diablo Trinity. I want to cam this, and add stall with a built tranny, but I don't want nothing overkill. Yes, it is a daily driver. It sounds like alot of overkill that I'm typing. But I'm sure there is a setup you guys can give me that will be just right for this truck, I do tow but not very often. If there is any info you can give, it will be much appreciated.

Gears for sure, which you already know. I'd assume 35in tires so going with 4.56's seems like a great choice for gears.
Depending on cam size will determine what stall you might go with when you do decide what you wish to do. Some smaller cams don't even need a stall converter.
You'll want to dump the diablo and get real tune with HP Tuners or EFI Live.
Stock transmission will handle the power you want to run, no reason to even upgrade that. The 6L80e is very strong, tuning it is the key to making it run good.

I'm actually running 34's, reason being is I'm on a 20x10 wheel with a -12 offset and I already had to do some cutting to begin with. Do you still think 4.56's are good? I kinda figured you would tell me to dump the Diablo. I'll look into one of the two, do you have a personal preference between them? The cam, i'm not too sure on the size. I want moderate sound but nothing too strong of power, just enough to get me from 0-60 quicker. I'm glad you said I don't have to get a built tranny, that's less I have to worry.

34's and 4.56s are perfect. My buddy runs a 305/70/17 (34x12) and runs right at 2500RPM at 80. If you do any towing or city driving its perfect, even highway is decent if you keep it under 80. I havn't updated my sig but I run 4.30's and 33's and its perfect.
